The Amritapuri Ashram is located at Amritapuri, Kollam at the state of Kerala, India.

The nearest airport is at Kochi, located 120 kilometer north of Amritapuri

and Thiruvananthapuram that is situated 120 kilometer South of the place.

To go there one has to get in a bus or train and get off at Kayamkulam,

12 kilometer north of the Ashram or Oachira, 7 kilometer north.

Then the tourist must go to Vallickavu by a local bus.

From Vallickavu one has to walk ten minutes to reach a boat jetty

where a ferry service is ready to take across the backwaters to reach Amritapuri.

The Ferry service is free for the visitors on behalf of the ashram.

Ma Amrita, popularly known as Amma is the divine personality of the ashrama.

Tourists pay homage to Amma at her ashram in Amritapuri, in Quilon of south Kerala.

She had devoted her life for the cause of social well being and had counseled millions of visitors who came from all over the world.

She had sacrificed her life to improve the social conditions of the poor and raised spiritualism in the human heart.

Amma is the propagator of peace, love and tranquility amongst the human race.

She is a pious woman who is a great devotee of God and demonstrates the greatness of God through her preaching.

The environment of the ashram is full of peace and serenity

and visitor come from all over the world to enjoy the tranquility in the ashram.

The ashram offers a modest accommodation with a number of rooms and dormitories for the visitors.

The food is served three times a day and the canteen opens on Sunday and Thursday.

There is a separate canteen in the ashram for the foreigner visitors.

The ashram also runs a charitable hospital. Amritapuri post office is situated within the ashram complex.

The residents and visiting devotees of the ashram take the responsibility of maintaining the ashram properly

and they clean the ashram complex.

They also cook for the ashramites and visitors as well as take care of the publishing work.

Those who stay in the ashram are asked to devote 2 hours of the day in the `seva` of the ashram

The ashram wakes up at five o` clock in the morning and the daily activities starts with Vedic chanting.

The devotees take the name of Amma for one hundred and eight times.

This is followed by enchanting Lalita Sahasranamam or the thousand names of divine mother.

All of the ashramites meditate from 8.00 am to 9.30 am in the morning and 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm in the evening.
